Abstract A laboratory fluidized bed reactor was used to investigate the fluidization behavior and reducibility of various iron ore fines. Hydrogen was chosen as a reducing agent across a temperature range of 873–1073 K. The magnetite ore used exhibited strong sticking behavior after the initiation of metallic iron formation.

· Reducibility is important to the BF, particularly in the lower part of the lumpy zone. ... Inside a BF, iron ore is reduced in three stages from mainly Fe 2 O 3 to Fe through Fe 3 O 4 and FeO. As mentioned earlier, there is about a 20% volume increase in the reduction of Fe 2 O 3 to Fe 3 O 4 due to the transformation of crystal lattices.
About 1kg of each ore, which was crushed to various size (maximum of 3 in), was treated at 900°C using 20l/min/kg of H 2 gas as a reducing medium. The reduction degree was …
Bulk Density as a Method to Evaluate Reducibility of Hard Hematite Ore in the Direct Reduction Process Massive hematite ore (MHO) is a special high-grade iron ore used as lump ore in the process of obtaining direct reduced iron (DRI). The influence of porosity on the reducibility was investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopes.
The reducibility of titanomagnetite iron ore materials (agglomerate, pellets) with various TiO2 contents are studied. The mineralogical features of agglomerate and pellets before and after reduction are investigated. Calculations of technical and economic indicators of blast furnace smelting using iron ore materials with different TiO2 contents are carried out.
· • Iron ore pellets are used for the production of hot metal in blast furnaces and DRI/HBI in direct reduction processes. • A blast furnace is a shaft furnace, which is charged with iron bearing materials (pellets, sinters and/or lump ore), reducing agents (metallurgical coke) and additives (limestone, quartz, BOF slag).
